For this Reading blog I’ve
decided to choose 4.12: The Master said, "If in your affairs you abandon
yourself to the pursuit of profit, you will arouse much resentment." I feel
that the analects is trying to ay that you should never do something based on
the fact that it gives you a big salary.
The real reason you should choose your career, job, or even sport you
play is because you love it and have fun doing it. You have to feel a certain passion not just a
fear that if you don´t choose it you might go broke, or your grandfather played
it so you must also. Even tough of
course I agree with it mostly I do feel that in the world we live in it is
almost necessary that you get a big salary.
I believe that because you’re always going to want to have a “safe”
future. Not have to worry too much, and
being able to support your family. I personally
feel that I would be very happy if I can give my kids a comfortable life where
they can be happy.
It reminds me to the movie “Pursuit
of Happiness” where will Smith´s motivation is giving his son the best life
possible, and that is the same motivation that every parent has. Of course you can´t choose a job based on the
salary, because if you don’t love it you’ll be miserable and probably do a bad
job. However I still feel you just can´t
ignore the fact of how much money you earn when you choose a career, but then
again that is just my opinion.
